What poultry can I find on the website?+

Our range may include chickens, point of lay hens, bantams, traditional and rare breeds, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, quail, turkeys, game birds, hatching eggs and poultry supplies. Availability changes through the breeding season.

How do I choose the right breed for my garden or property?+

Consider the space you have, whether you want eggs, breeding birds or ornamental poultry, the size and temperament of the breed, and whether your housing and fencing are suitable. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we will be happy to offer practical guidance.

Can I reserve birds that are not currently available?+

Availability varies by breed and season. Where reservations or advance orders are offered, the relevant product information will explain the options. Please contact us if you are looking for a particular breed or age of bird.

SEASON & STOCK

Poultry Availability

When is the best time to buy chicks or young poultry?+

Availability varies by species, breed and breeding cycle. In Texas, customers should also plan for seasonal heat and suitable brooding or transport conditions when ordering young poultry. Exact timing depends on laying, fertility, incubation and hatch results, so always check the current Shop listings.

Why does availability change?+

Poultry is not a standard warehouse product. Availability depends on natural laying cycles, fertility, successful hatches, the age of the birds and demand. A breed that is available one week may be limited or unavailable later in the season.

Do you sell point of lay hens?+

Point of lay hens may be offered when available. Check the Chickens section of the Shop for current listings and ages, or contact us if you need help choosing suitable laying hens.

COLLECTION & TRANSPORT

Collecting and Transporting Poultry

Where is Willow Creek Poultry based?+

We are based in Galveston, Texas. Please check the Contact page for current location information and contact us before travelling to collect poultry.

What should I bring when collecting birds?+

Bring a secure, well ventilated poultry carrier or suitable transport box with enough space for the birds you are collecting. The carrier should be safe, clean and protected from excessive Texas heat, direct sun and poor ventilation during the journey.

Do you offer delivery for poultry orders in Texas?+

Delivery options depend on the products ordered and destination. Shipping is a flat $28 at checkout. Contact us before ordering if you need help with delivery suitability for live poultry.

NEW KEEPERS

Bringing Poultry Home

What should I prepare before bringing chickens home?+

Have secure housing, suitable bedding, feeders and drinkers ready before the birds arrive. Make sure the run is predator resistant and that fresh water and appropriate poultry feed are immediately available.

Should new birds be introduced straight into my existing flock?+

New birds should be introduced carefully. Many keepers use a separate pen or partition first so birds can see one another without immediate full contact. Good hygiene and sensible observation are important whenever adding birds to an established flock.

What should I feed my poultry?+

Feed should suit the bird species and life stage. Chicks, growers and laying hens have different nutritional requirements. Use an appropriate complete poultry ration and provide clean fresh water at all times.

INCUBATION

Hatching Eggs

Can I buy hatching eggs from Willow Creek Poultry?+

Hatching eggs are offered when available. Browse the Hatching Eggs section for the breeds and quantities currently listed.

Does buying hatching eggs guarantee a hatch?+

No. Hatch results can be affected by fertility, handling, storage, transport and incubator conditions including temperature, humidity and turning. Hatching eggs should therefore never be treated as a guarantee that every egg will hatch.

What do I need before buying hatching eggs?+

Use a reliable incubator that has been tested before the eggs are set. Make sure you understand the incubation requirements for the species you are hatching and have suitable brooder equipment ready before hatch day.
